❤️ Why You'll Love this Recipe
Easy to Make - This hibiscus alcoholic drink recipe is a very beginner friendly cocktail for all the amateur mixologists out there. You don't even need any bar tools because I have included some simple swaps you can make using common kitchen tools below!
Refreshing Tropical Flavor - The mojito is a classic Cuban cocktail and the hibiscus flavor twist comes from West Africa (called zobo, sobolo, etc.) but spread throughout Latin America and the Caribbean long ago to become known as jamaíca and sorrel.
I'm a big hibiscus geek online and IRL and in addition to growing my own hibiscus plant in my garden, I have a gang of beautiful drink recipes for you to love, including my tropical hibiscus punch, hibiscus lemonade, and hibiscus ginger beer.
And of course, more cocktails like the hibiscus French 75 with gin or hibiscus Hennessy punch...with cognac for the party animals!
What You'll Need for this Recipe

Rum is the signature mojito spirit and white rum is traditionally used. I like either white rum or dark rum (also called black rum) for a little more richness but don't really recommend spiced rum in this mojito. Use Bacardi, Grander, Havana Club, Malibu or whichever brand you like.
Hibiscus Syrup takes the place of cane sugar or simple syrup typically used in a mojito to add sweetness, flavor, and beautiful ruby color. I recommend using my homemade hibiscus simple syrup for the most fantastic flavor.
Mint and Lime add fresh cooling flavor and tart zesty-ness that make this drink so amazing for enjoying during warm weather. Use fresh mint leaves for the best taste and either fresh (preferred) or concentrated lime juice.

Substitutions & Variations
Club Soda is the most true to the Cuban origin of the mojito but you can use sparkling water or mineral water in a pinch.
Citrus can be substituted, too, if you don't have lime. Try sour orange or lemon instead.
The classic mojito recipe has stood the test of time because it is fabulously simple AND it takes on many different flavors flawlessly. See my sweet tea mojito, ginger pineapple mojito, and matcha mojito recipes for more evidence!
How to Make a Hibiscus Mojito at Home

Step One: Muddle the mint leaves and hibiscus syrup together to express the mint oil and meld the flavors.

Step Two: Pour in rum, lime juice, and club soda over ice then stir until combined.
Pro Tip: If you don't have a muddler, grab a wooden kitchen spoon instead and use the end of the handle to press these ingredients. And a standard shot glass works as well as a jigger for measuring the liquids!

Step Three: Garnish with fresh mint, if desired, and serve ice cold.
Frequently Asked Questions
Because of the bubbles in the club soda, I don't recommend prepping a hibiscus mojito in advance. It only takes about three minutes to put together so it's easy to enjoy on demand.
To make a fishbowl or pitcher hibiscus mojitos, add 12 mint leaves and two ounces of hibiscus syrup to pitcher then muddle together. Fill ⅓ full with ice then pour in six ounces rum, three ounces lime juice, and top up with club soda. Stir and serve cold. Makes four servings.
