Quick and Easy - You only need five minutes to make this hibiscus flower margarita and I've included easy tips on how you can use common kitchen tools if you don't have barware on hand!
Fresh Hibiscus Flavor - Hibiscus is indigenous to West Africa and came to the Americas through trade of African goods and people. Known as jamaíca in Mexico and other former Spanish colonies, hibiscus pairs perfectly with Mexican ingredients like mezcal and tajin.
I absolutely love a good hibiscus drink like my bubbly hibiscus mocktail or bourbon hibiscus old fashioned and this homemade hibiscus lemonade!
What You'll Need for this Recipe

Mezcal is a Mexican spirit made from roasted agave, hence the smokiness in its flavor profile. Good mezcal will also have herbal, citrus, and spice tasting notes.
Hibiscus Syrup makes these margaritas a pretty purple color and adds the taste of hibiscus flowers, ginger, and warming spices plus sweetness. I highly recommend my natural hibiscus simple syrup for the best cocktail.
Orange Liqueur like Triple Sec or Cointreau is key for a good margarita. I'm not picky on the brand but do recommend using a high quality liqueur for the best taste. You can even use Grand Marnier to make it extra boozy.

Substitutions & Variations
Citrus - You can make this a hibiscus lime margarita or use lemon or sour orange, depending on what you have available. Sour orange is used widely in the Mexican Yucatan region the way that we use limes in the United States.
Tequila vs Mezcal - Of course, I'm going to pick Mezcal nine times out of ten but if you're a tequila girlie, you can absolutely make a hibiscus tequila margarita instead and it will still taste amazing!
Mexican Chile Seasoning like Tajín or Valentina is optional but highly encouraged.
Crank the Heat - Add a slice of jalapeño or habañero to make a spicy hibiscus margarita.
While you're here, you must add my piña colada margarita on the rocks to your to-do list!
How to Make a Hibiscus Syrup Margarita

Step One: Run a lime wedge along the side of your glass then dip the same side in Tajín to create a garnish.

Step Two: Fill glass halfway with ice then stir in mezcal, hibiscus syrup, lime juice, and orange liqueur.
Pro Tip: You don't need special cocktail tools to bring this margarita jamaíca to life. Use a standard shot glass in place of a jigger, and a regular table spoon if you don't have a bar spoon. No cocktail shaker is needed here!
