Hi, I'm Jazzmine.
Welcome to Dash of Jazz!
I created this space in 2015 to share well-loved recipes with my friends and family spread across the country.
Since then, it has grown into a community of hungry home cooks all over the world!
I believe in infusing everyday cooking with flavor, culture, and fun!
let's connect!

What You'll Find on Dash of Jazz®
- Hundreds of original recipes developed by me, taste-tested by my family and friends, and enjoyed by thousands of people like you every day.
- Classic dishes inspired by my heritage and made with love. I'm a third-culture kid, and our typical meals growing up would fuse flavors from my mother's Black American culture and my father's Nigerian (Yoruba) culture, like chicken and andouille gumbo with jollof rice.
- Home cooking ideas that work for busy people, because we don't always have hours to get a good, nourishing meal on the table! Moms swear by my breakfast taco egg bites, sheet pan pancakes, and 15-minute wonton bowls!
- Detailed instructions with step-by-step photos and videos to help you get it right the first time. I know that the energy, time, and money you spend on food are precious, and don't take it for granted!
My Inspiration
My family inspires me so much! I grew up in my grandma's kitchen in Southeast Houston, Texas, and she taught me the foundations of what I know about American Soul Food. At family reunions and cookouts, I would be trailing behind her as she perfected a pound cake or marinated meat for the grill. Likewise, my Aunty Toyin schooled me on Nigerian cuisine--and she still does to this day. 😊
I also find lots of inspiration from nature, and firmly believe in cooking in season, with local ingredients, as much as possible. Lots of my recipes use ingredients with cultural significance, like hibiscus (aka zobo), okra, sweet potatoes, plantains, watermelon, rice, and cognac or whiskey.
About Jazzmine
I'm a proud native Houstonian who grew up in a busy, noisy, mixed-culture family. As the oldest of five kids, I learned early on the importance of bringing the people I love most together around a home cooked meal.
Cooking has always been part of my life, and my family and friends have always supported my desire to be in the kitchen, no matter how many messes I made--sorry to my parents!
In college, I was the one who was way too serious about cooking and baking for parties, or munching on something I meal prepped during grad school lectures. 😅
Later, while working in human resources and corporate communications, I continued to hone my skills in cooking, baking, drink-making, and hosting; and Dash of Jazz® was my online creative outlet until 2023 when I surreptitiously left my 9-to-5 to pour into it full time!
I love what I do, and am honored to help you create meals that become moments with your loved ones.
When I'm not in the kitchen, I'm usually traveling, and documenting my adventures on my other blog, Jetset Jazzmine!
