What is champagne and grapefruit juice called?
If you're on the East Coast of the United States, it's often called a megmosa, after the first documented mixer of the drink, M. Sheppard. That version calls for a fresh or frozen raspberry garnish. However, in The South, we just call it a mimosa still--or a pink mimosa, hence this post.
❤️ Why You'll Love this Recipe
Quick and Easy - You only need five minutes to mix up this simple pink mimosa recipe by the glass or for a crowd. And no special bartending or mixology skills are required!
Natural Pretty Pink Color - If you need a pink mimosa recipe for a themed party or color-coded brunch, this grapefruit juice mimosa delivers without adding any dye or funky flavors. Grapefruit juice is naturally sweet, tart, fruity, and bright with a delicate coral-pink hue--the perfect pink juice for a mimosa.

What You'll Need for this Recipe

Grapefruit Juice, either from a bottle or fresh-squeezed. I juicing pink grapefruits or ruby red grapefruits for this recipe for the best taste but using store-bought juice is much easier especially for batching the drink.
Champagne, of course! But you can also get the bubbles from cava, prosecco, or the sparkling wine of your choice. If you like a really sweet sip, sparkling moscato is a great optiion.

Substitutions & Variations
Elderflower pairs really nicely with the flavor of grapefruit so consider adding a splash of elderflower liqueur like St. Germain to make grapefruit elderflower mimosas.
Hot Pink - You can control the color of this drink by adding more or less champagne. The less champagne, the more intense the color. For a super hot pink color without using food dye, try making the mimosa pink champagne, too.
Non-Alcoholic - Want to make a grapefruit mimosa mocktail? Substitute the champagne with sparkling water or soda like sprite or ginger ale et voila: zero proof!
Check out my grapefruit mint mocktail or spring thyme mocktail for similar flavors without the booze.
How to Make a Pink Mimosa

- Step 1: Pour grapefruit juice into a champagne flute.

- Step 2: Top up the glass with champagne or sparkling wine of your choice.

- Step 3: Garnish and serve.
Frequently Asked Questions
No, I don't recommend making this in advance for the simple reason that the champagne will go flat. Besides, it is very quick to mix up so you won't save much time or energy by prepping it in advance.
There are two options: Mix equal parts champagne and grapefruit juice in a carafe, pitcher, or punch bowl (Pink mimosa punch, anyone?) and stir. There are 25 ounces of champagne in a bottle, FYI. Alternatively, you can set out the champagne bottle and a carafe of grapefruit juice for your guests to serve themselves. Make sure to put the bottles in an ice bucket to keep them crisp and cold!

How to Serve
Serve this pretty in pink mimosa ice cold for the most refreshing taste and mouthfeel. I like to garnish with little triangular grapfruit slices but you can also add fresh edible flowers or herbs like thyme, rosemary or mint, depending on the occasion.
This cocktail is perfect for Easter brunch or a Mother's Day MOM-osa bar. These are my most popular dishes for an elevated brunch menu:
- Spring Spritz Cocktail for another option to imbibe
Last but not least, if you want an over the top presentation, freeze the grapefruit juice into ice cubes, add a few to each glass, then pour the champagne over top!
