Quick & Easy - You'll only need five minutes and four simple ingredients to make this hibiscus alcoholic drink recipe at home. And you don't even need bar tools because I've gotchu covered with swaps using common kitchen tools below!
Sweet Hibiscus Flavor from hibiscus flavored simple syrup turns this cocktail a pretty purple with notes of earthy hibiscus flowers, ginger, clove, and cinnamon.
Hibiscus drink recipes are kinda my thing like this hibiscus old fashioned cocktail and the hibiscus French 75 of even hibiscus gin and tonic with elderflower. Peep the sparkling hibiscus mocktail and hibiscus flower latte, too.
What You'll Need for this Recipe

Vodka is the only liquor in this cocktail so make sure to grab a good quality one. I like to use Highway Vodka or Tito's but go for whatever you enjoy!
Hibiscus Simple Syrup adds beautiful flavor and color to the drink in one simple step. I highly recommend using my homemade hibiscus syrup for the best results.
Ginger Beer adds the bubbles and subtle spice of ginger as well as sweetness.
Lime Juice from fresh limes is best but concentrated lime juice can also work.

Substitutions & Variations
Liquor - Vodka is what makes this drink a Moscow mule but you can actually use the spirit of your choice. Gin for a London mule, Tequila for a Tijuana or Mexican mule, etc.
Serving Suggestions - Moscow mules (which actually originated in America, not Russia!) are traditionally served in copper mugs to keep them icy cold. And this presentation is top notch but you could also serve in a julep cup or even a regular old rocks glass.

How to Make a Hibiscus Moscow Mule

Step One: Add the vodka, hibiscus syrup, and lime juice to a copper mug over ice then top up with ginger beer and stir.
Pro Tip #1: If you don't have a crushed ice or pebble ice maker at home, purchase a cup of ice from Sonic for that same aesthetic--that's what I do!
Pro Tip #2: You can use a jigger to measure the liquid ingredients or a standard shot glass, which holds the same volume as the large end of the jigger. And if you don't have a bar spoon, just use a regular table spoon or butter knife and a gentle hand.
Frequently Asked Questions
I recommend making this drink no more than 15 minutes ahead of the time to maintain the effervescence of the ginger beer and keep the ice from melting, especially if using pebble ice.
To make pitcher mules, combine six ounces of vodka, three ounces of hibiscus syrup, four ounces of lime juice, and 16 ounces of ginger beer and stir to combine. Serves four.
