❤️ Why You'll Love this Recipe
Simple to Make - Although this October martini looks like it's shrouded in mystery, the process of making it is similar to any other and you'll only need a few ingredients and almost no time at all!
Festive and Creepy - This black magic martini is dark as night, dripping blood, and finished with a bloody eye. Call it a Halloween zombie cocktail or a vampire cocktail--either way, it's perfect for scary season.
Flavorful - The flavor is a bit mysterious and you'll taste very subtle fruity sweetness, smooth nuttiness, and crisp floral. And she's a sneaky lil thang. Not at all overpowering with the taste of liquor so each sip is very smooth--watch out!
Uniquely flavored martinis are one of my personal passions so I have several recipes for you to sip on any day of the year, like my popular matcha tea martini, sweet peach martini, frozen lychee martini, blood orange martini, and muddled raspberry martini with Chambord!
What You'll Need for this Recipe

Gin is my preferred martini liquor and I specifically use Empress 1908 gin in this recipe for the dark purple color. You can use whichever brand you like, though or mix it up with vodka instead.
Activated Charcoal turns this drink black and cherry jam makes everything bloody! I recommend my easy homemade cherry jam for the best flavor and texture.
Lychee is jiggly and fleshy so it's perfect for the ick factor associated with Halloween gross-ness and a blueberry completes the look of the pupil. Use canned or fresh peeled lychee fruit and fresh or frozen blueberry.

Substitutions & Variations
Tart Cherry Juice is my pick in this recipe. Other solid options include pomegranate juice and cranberry juice.
Amaretto Liqueur gives it a fragrant, intoxicating aroma-just like a forbidden potion! If you don't have it, though, try almond extract, orgeat syrup or a similar liqueur like Frangelico.
How to Make a Halloween Gin Martini

- Step 1: Dip the martini glass in cherry jam then place it in the fridge or freezer to chill.

- Step 2: Add the juice, gin, liqueur, and activated charcoal powder to a cocktail shaker over ice.
Pro Tip #1
If your jam is too thick, microwave it for a few seconds to loosen it up before making the rim.

- Step 3: Seal the shaker and shake until chilled then strain into prepared glass.

- Step 4: Spoon cherry jam into the hole of the lychee then place a blueberry inside to make the garnish.
Pro Tip #2
I like to carefully thread a cocktail pick through the edible bloody eye to hold everything together and help it "float" on top of the drink. You can also use a toothpick for this purpose.
Frequently Asked Questions
To turn this into a Halloween punch add eight ounces of the cherry juice, six ounces gin, three ounces amaretto liqueur, and powder from four activated charcoal capsules to a pitcher over ice and stir to dissolve the powder. Add the Halloween cocktail garnish by the glass. Serves four.
Shake up this drink as usual then divide the liquid into three shot glasses to make Halloween shots instead.

How to Serve
Serve this drink immediately while it's still chilled. If you want to be extra, make and freeze more lychee eyeballs to drop into your glass to keep it cold without watering it down!
Just as an FYI, the cherry jam drip can get messy but, to me, that's all part of the fun. If that's not your vibe, feel free to skip it.
