Spooky Halloween cocktail with gin and a blend of mysteriously smooth fruit flavors

Equipment

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Run rim of coupe glass through the cherry jam to create the rim then place into refrigerator or freezer to. This step chills the glass and helps the jam stay in place.
  • Add cherry juice, gin, liqueur, and activated charcoal powder to cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice.
  • Seal cocktail shaker and shake until liquid is chilled to the touch. I recommend doing a few extra shakes to dissolve as much of the charcoal powder as possible.
  • Strain mocktail into rocks glass over fresh ice.
  • Spoon cherry jam into hole of the lychee fruit then pop blueberry inside to create the eye. Add to drink as garnish.

Notes

Preparation
If the jam is too thick, microwave it for a few seconds to loosen it up before making the rim.
I like to carefully thread a cocktail pick through the edible bloody eye to hold everything together and help it "float" on top of the drink. You can also use a toothpick for this purpose.
Serving
To make shots, shake up the drink as usual then divide the liquid into three shot glasses.
And to turn this into a Halloween punch add eight ounces of the cherry juice, six ounces gin, three ounces amaretto liqueur, and powder from four activated charcoal capsules to a pitcher over ice and stir to dissolve the powder. Add the Halloween cocktail garnish by the glass. Serves four.
