The day is finally here! Seven weeks of planning, DIYing, and sourcing resulted in the dining room reveal you see here today. Way back in week one, I shared the mood board for this room. I have slightly tweaked some of the original elements since then but stayed true to the modern, neutral, and feminine feel I was going for.
In weeks two and three, I knocked out a couple of DIY projects: faux fur seat covers for the ghost chairs and an accent wall with glamorous wallpaper. The accent wall directly opposes the front-door entrance to my home and I love the visual impact it makes when you first walk in.
During weeks five and six, I found the pieces for which I'd been searching from the beginning of the project: this large neutral rug and this drum pendant light fixture, which I installed myself! The rug is soft enough to lay on and I think it might be a little too nice for an eating area but we shall see.
I added an easy gallery wall with a large mirror flanked by empty frames to pull out the metallic tones in the light fixture and table legs as well as the glitter in the wallpaper. A simple vase with fresh flowers was a necessary, classic touch that can be changed out with the seasons and for special occasions.
The finishing touches added during this last week have brought the room together and finally made it worthy of the gatherings I have planned for the holiday season.
This dining room reveal marks the fourth room I've completed in my home. The others are my entertaining-ready living room, all-white bathroom, and girly home office. I still have the master and guest bedrooms, kitchen and parlor to go so maybe I'll join in the next One Room Challenge to get one of those done. There was an unprecedented one week extension to this challenge this Fall due to participants experiencing delays related to hurricane devastation across the country. Being a guest participant this go round has been a great experience and really kept me on task with finishing the room in seven weeks. You can check out the reveals of over 150 other guest participants here. I really enjoyed completing this room as part of the challenge and would love your feedback on it. Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for reading!
