❤️ Why You'll Love this Recipe
Simple to Make - You only need a handful of common ingredients that you probably have in your kitchen already. No special tools or techniques, and a quick and easy prep: just cut, toss, roast, and enjoy!
Melt Away Texture - Roasting at high heat gives each bite of sweet potato a super silky inside that is truly a treat to eat.
Fantastic Flavor - This recipe uses my go-to blend of spices for sweet potato that really enhance the tuber's flavor, plus they get infused with chicken broth and a lil' maple. There's much less sugar than the typical sweet potato dishes we love around the holidays. You'll taste savory, earthy, and smoky notes with just a hint of sweetness.

What You'll Need for this Recipe

Sweet Potatoes are the star of this melting yams recipe, and I recommend orange varieties like Jewel or Garnet for the best flavor and texture. I like to use smaller sweet potatoes, no bigger than 3 inches thick, so that the pieces are bite-sized and easy to eat.
Melted Butter and Avocado Oil coat every inch of the sweet potato surface to create golden caramelization and rich flavor. You can use a different cooking oil, just make sure it has a smoke point of 500 degrees or higher!
Spices like cinnamon, smoked paprika, and garlic and onion powders create a nicely balanced flavor profile. Use the best quality ground spices you have.

Substitutions & Variations
Vegan - Use plant-based dairy-free butter and vegetable broth to make this recipe vegan.
Different Color Sweet Potatoes - You can make this dish using purple sweet potatoes or white sweet potatoes; however, these types tend to be more dry and starchy compared to orange-flesh sweet potatoes, so the texture will be slightly different.
How to Make Melting Sweet Potatoes at Home

- Step One: Scrub the sweet potato skin, then cut into one-inch rounds. (Photo 1)
- Step Two: Toss the cut pieces in the butter, oil, and spices. (Photo 2)
Pro Tip #1
I recommend leaving the skin on the sweet potatoes as it helps them hold together better during the roasting process. And after cooking, the skin has a chewy texture that contrasts the creamy flesh wonderfully!

- Step Three: Spread the sweet potato rounds in a single layer on your baking dish and drizzle the extra spices over top. (Photo 3)
- Step Four: Roast for 15 minutes, then flip each piece over and return to the oven. (Photo 4)
- Step Five: Carefully pour the chicken broth and maple syrup into the pan and roast for another 15 minutes. (Photos 5 and 6)
Pro Tip #2
If you have crooked or angled pieces that don't stand up well, just lean them onto nearby pieces or the sides of the pan.

- 1 cup chicken broth I use low sodium broth
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
Instructions
- Prepare the Sweet Potatoes: Preheat oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Gently scrub the skin of the sweet potatoes.
