Ladies, fight night isn't just for guys. And there are some great fights happening this Fall, namely, Canelo vs. GGG this past Saturday sponsored by Tecate. That's why I decided to partner with Tecate and wrangle some of my male friends to show y'all our fight night situation. Even if hosting a fight night is not in your plans, this can serve as inspo for a Fall premiere watch party or game night! For those of you who want to parlay your hostess with the mostest skills into an epic watch party, keep reading for targeted tips and an easy menu.
The Setup: Everything in Reach
Like any other kind of watch party, the TV is the center of attention. For this reason, you want everything to be in reach. Make sure your setup allows guests to enjoy snacks and conversation without leaving it. Ditch your coffee table decor and other home accessories in order to free up surface space for food and drinks. You also don't want anything to get knocked over as folks get pretty excited throughout the fight. I placed food and fixins on the coffee table and a cooler of Tecate on the side table. My living room is already setup for easy entertaining but this tip can be applied to any space.
The Menu: Easy and Interactive
One of my biggest tips to save time when hosting is to use a slow cooker. I used mine to whip up tender, slow-cooked chicken for tacos that pair perfectly with a Tecate 12 pack, chips, and salsa. Here's the super simple recipe:
Slow Cooker Chicken Tacos Recipe

Slow Cooker Chicken Tacos
Ingredients
- 5 pounds boneless skinless chicken breast or thighs
- 3 cloves garlic chopped
- 1 sliced jalapeno
- 1 sliced hatch chile
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- sea salt and black pepper to taste
- corn or flour tortillas
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a slow cooker and set on high for 4 hours or low for about 6 hours.
- Once cooked through, use two forks to "shred" chicken.
- Serve with your choice of tortillas and fixins such as fresh jalapeno, cheese, onion, and lime juice
With this setup and menu everyone can create their own taco, [responsibly] enjoy their Tecate, and take in the fight and flow of conversation with no interruptions.
The Goal: Enjoy Yourself
When all is said and done, you want to be able to kick back and watch the fight, too. These tips are aimed at minimizing prep and stress and maximizing time spent with your guests. I loved not being tied up in the kitchen on this night. I hope this is helps you host a bomb fight night party. Did you watch Canelo vs. GGG? Thanks for reading!
