What You'll Need for this Recipe
Blood Oranges start to make their appearance in October so you should have your pick of them by late November. If you don't, though, try Cara Cara oranges for a close alternative.
Cinnamon Syrup adds sweetness and spice that plays really well with the ginger flavor note and adds coziness. Here's how to make cinnamon syrup from scratch (super easy).
Apple Cider Vinegar balances everything out with a bit of tanginess so the beverage is not too sweet. I recommend using apple cider vinegar with the mother.

Substitutions & Variations
Ginger beer can be swapped with ginger ale for a more subtle ginger taste with less bite.
Spike It - Add your favorite spirit to turn this from a mocktail to a Thanksgiving signature cocktail--I recommend whiskey or vodka. You can also use a sparkling wine instead of soda to make sangria!
Garnishes - You can stick to pomegranate and rosemary or take it all the way over the top with cinnamon sticks, sage, orange slices, candied ginger--just to give you a few ideas.
How to Make the Best Mocktails for Thanksgiving
- Step 1: Add all the liquid ingredients to a glass over ice and stir gently to combine.
- Step 2: Sprinkle in pomegranate arils then add a sprig of fresh rosemary to garnish.
Pro Tip #1
Freeze the pomegranate seeds to help keep the drink chilled without watering it down.
Frequently Asked Questions
You can prep this drink in advance and refrigerate it. Just don't add the ginger beer to the mix until just before serving so that it doesn't go flat.
Add the juice of two blood oranges, three ounces apple cider vinegar, two ounces cinnamon simple syrup, and 12 ounces ginger beer to a pitcher filled halfway with ice. Stir to combine then garnish with pomegranate and rosemary. Serves four.
How to Serve
Serve your virgin Thanksgiving cocktails ice cold by the glass or batch the recipe in a pitcher or punch bowl to allow your guests to serve themselves.
If you want to present this drink for the whole family, I recommend floating blood orange slices in the serving container for extra flair. You can even freeze them ahead of time to help keep it cold. Bundle the rosemary nearby so that folks can add a sprig to the glasses if they like.
Of course, Thanksgiving-themed mocktails are perfect for washing down Thanksgiving dinner or dazzling your guests at a Friendsgiving feast.
