As a relatively new (almost three years in!) homeowner, personalizing my space still is very important to me. After years of living in dorms, apartments, and with my folks again, I have relished the opportunity to spread out and put my stamp on every room–especially during the holiday season. However, I don’t foresee this being my forever home and want to minimize any damage I’d have to repair when I am ready to sell or rent it out down the line. I also know that many of you are on the same wave, whether it’s because you currently rent or also plan to re-sell at some point. With that in mind, I’ve partnered with Commandto share holiday decor hacks that will help you make your space festive without having to do any repairs afterward. Let’s get into it!

Decorate Non-Fixed Sufaces

This holiday decor hack is my favorite. Any piece of furniture can get the decorating business around this time of year. In addition to decking my halls, I deck the tables, cabinets, mirrors–everything, sis! Making non-fixed surfaces festive not only helps make my decor feel more complete and cohesive from room to room, it requires no special tools and is a sure-fire way to avoid damaging the walls. This little vignette under my living room TV was easy to put together using a faux Rochester garland from Walmart and other easy decor elements. I hung my stocking on a Command® Adjustables™ repositionable 1 lb hook, which is almost invisible and holding up strong even after stuffing the stocking with a bunch goodies, from me to me. 🙂

Use The Right Tools

When I decorate my home for the holidays, Command® Adjustables™ repositionable 1 lb clips and Command® Adjustables™ repositionable 1 lb hooks eliminate the need for any other tools. No hammers, hooks, or nails necessary! And I don’t have to worry about getting the look right the first time. Just like I might change up a couple of things about an outfit before stepping out of the house, I tend to make a few tweaks and adjustments to my decor before I feel like it’s just right. And the new technology in Command® Adjustables™ Hooks and Clips can be repositioned up to 3x in the first 20 minutes, which makes this no sweat. The process of adorning my doorways with garland and Command® Adjustables™ repositionable 1 lb clips is easy up at the beginning of the holiday season and easy down afterward. Are you wondering if you can recreate this process in your own space? These products stick to paint, stained or varnished wood, glass, tile, painted cinder block, plaster, metal, and painted wallboard so you likely can.

Follow Directions

I’ll be honest. Out of all the holiday decor hacks, I struggle with this step but it’s SO important in order to avoid missteps and damage. Sometimes, I assume the way a process should go or read just the first couple of steps then jump right in. Don’t be like me. Lay out everything you’re working with, read the directions through at least once before getting started, and your holiday decorating experience will be much smoother, I promise. And, if you have any questions about how to decorate damage-free with Command® Adjustables™ Hooks and Clips check out the FAQs.

I hope these holiday decor hacks help you decorate to your heart’s content without any stress on the backend. Be sure to look for Command® Adjustables™ Hooks and Clips where you’d find holiday decor at Walmart. Do you have any decorating tips to share? Let me know below, if so. Thanks for reading!
