This cozy adult reading corner post is sponsored by Wayfair. All opinions are my own.
Like virtually everyone else on Earth, I've spent copious amounts of time at home over the last year. For the most part, this hasn't been problematic since I'm introverted and truly enjoy my own company. I'm in the midst of redecorating my living room and the first area to fully come together has been a cozy little reading corner. Because a dedicated reading space will help me breeze through my 2021 book list, right? That's what I'm going with. Let's get into how I planned and styled this adult reading corner with Wayfair.

Reading Corner Furniture & Accessories
I started the reading corner design process with a list of key pieces that would make this a functional and relaxing space. Obviously a comfy chair was the first order of business and Wayfair was my store of choice for a stylish selection of reading chairs that would fit into this relatively small space. Here's the list of what I shopped for in styling this corner of my living room.
- Chair - Needed to be large enough for me to curl up in without taking up too much space
- Cozy Throw - For style and snuggling
- Drink Table - Perfect for balancing a mug of tea while a read
- Reading Lamp - Preferably a floor lamp that is adjustable so that the light goes where I need it
Picking a Comfortable Reading Nook Chair
I considered several chairs from Wayfair's collection of accent and armchairs, including colorful statement chairs and more minimalist modern reading chairs. Ultimately, I picked this one from Lark Manor in the "natural" colorway because of its positive reviews, dimensions, and neutral color that I knew would fit in well with the rest of my living room decor. And the nail head trim coordinates with my sofa without it being too "matchy matchy". The chair was on my doorstep a few days later and assembly was quick and easy. So now I'm sitting in style! Finding the right chair to curl up in was actually the easiest part of styling my adult reading nook.
Cozy Decorating Ideas
All the relaxing reading corners that caught my eye while researching for this project had unique and thoughtful reading lights included. And I wanted the same. I get a good amount of natural lighting from the living room window, especially in the late afternoon and early evening, but needed a lamp so that I can read into the night. The goal was to make it as easy and inviting to get more reading done, remember? This floor lamp tucks in nicely behind my chair and hangs over it to provide a spotlight on whatever I'm reading. Bonus points because it's adjustable, which is necessary because my hair and headwraps sometimes block it!
I hope these adult reading nook ideas inspire your own decor project, especially if you are like me and want to bring to life a reading corner in a small room. Sharing is caring so be sure to pin this tutorial on Pinterest. Thanks for reading!
