Table | Rug | Ghost Chairs | Faux Fur | Chandelier | Wallpaper | Almond Bisque Paint
My dining room has looked pretty much the same since I moved into my house about nine months ago. With the holiday season fast approaching, I've started putting more thought into the decor. The timing is also perfect for my first time joining the bi-annual One Room Challenge as a guest contributor! This challenge runs for six weeks and links up both professional (not me) and amateur (me) decorators through the process of redoing a space in their homes. 🙂 There's a substantial amount of color in the living room, so I'm going for a more neutral color palette with this dining room mood board. I followed the process outlined in my how to make a mood board post and the words I want associated with the finished room are neutral, feminine, and modern.
Existing Elements
- Chairs: I've liked ghost chairs for a while and purchased these arm chairs and these side chairs for a really great deal on Amazon before moving in. I'm contemplating swapping out two of them for a bench but haven't come across one I like just yet.
- Dining Table: The dining table has a gray wood-finish top and silver legs. I found it on Wayfair shortly after moving in and it's currently on sale here.
- Paint: Most of the walls in my home were painted a beige color before I moved in, which is Almond Bisque by Kilz. All molding is painted a bright, reflective white. I don't know which brand or shade.
New Finds
- Wallpaper: I haven't put it up yet (still debating whether to DIY or call in a professional) but one wall will be papered with this find from Wayfair. I bought it on clearance so it might not be available for long. Wallpaper for this focal wall, which has a double-door opening, cost me under $40 with shipping.
- Chair Covers: Covering for the ghost chairs has been on my mind for a while and I recently settled on pelts of gray faux fur fabric I found at Joann.
Still Searching
- Lighting: I'm looking for a drum pendant chandelier to replace the existing light fixture but haven't decided on the finish yet--gold, silver, or a type of hybrid. I've found this one so far but am (of course) looking for something at a lower price point. Let me know your thoughts below?
- Artwork: The walls are completely bare and I would like to add artwork but have yet to land on what kind.
- Rug: A cream-colored rug will further punctuate the dining room as its own space (it's a pass-through from the living room to another) and warm it up as well. I originally purchased this cowhide rug but it's not quite big enough so I'm relocating it to the master bedroom.
My original goal was to have this room complete by Thanksgiving but joining the One Room Challenge will keep me accountable in getting it done in six weeks! I'll share an update each Thursday up until the final reveal here on the blog and you can follow along behind the scenes on Instagram. Thanks for reading!
