Have you ever been the last of your friends to try/buy/do something? I may not have been the absolute last person in my circle to visit Blaze Pizza but it was starting to feel that way. I finally had my first experience there among a sea of local food bloggers and one of my sorority sisters. My feeling of "why didn't I do this sooner" can only be rivaled by what I felt when switching from a Blackberry to an iPhone. Although I am not by any means a pizza snob, I thoroughly enjoyed Blaze and it might just be the best pizza I have ever had...at least that I can recall. 🙂
We dined at the Westheimer and Tanglewilde location and were schooled on the origin and concept of Blaze by the manager and franchisees, K+K, who happen to be brother and sister. Blaze started out in California and is meant to be something of a cross between Chipotle and Subway concepts. They have a menu of signature pizzas or you can build your own from a wide variety of sauces, cheeses, toppings, and traditional or gluten-free crust. Y'all know how much I love the word "customizable" and being in control of what goes into my body, so I opted to create my own.
Your pizza is created in front of you assembly-line style then placed into a special fire oven that cooks it in.three.minutes!
The environment is laid-back and suitable for all ages, in my opinion, and the pizzas are available to-go as well. The drink options are as abundant as the pizza toppings. This particular location served your typical soft drinks, beer, red and white wines, and a delicious blood orange lemonade that I drank embarrassingly fast.
This definitely will not be my last visit! Anyway, I'm sure you're on the edge of your seat wondering what I put on my pizza so, here goes:
- Light [amount of] classic red sauce
- Mozzarella cheese
- Ricotta cheese
- Parmesan cheese
- Mushroom
- Pineapple
- Turkey meatballs
- Grilled chicken
- Roasted garlic
- Chopped garlic
- Sea salt
- Arugula
- Pesto
- Olive oil
Please ask any questions and share your experiences with new eateries below. Also, let me know if there's a place out there you want me to review. Thanks!
