If you know me, you know I am all about high impact with minimal effort. And this açaí smoothie with berries and greens packs an abundance of tasty nutritional benefits into your glass in just a few minutes. Let's get into the goodness!
And if you enjoy this recipe, you'll also love my cherry ginger smoothie or my dragonfruit mango smoothie.

First, what's açaí?
The açaí berry originates in South America, where it grows from native açai palm trees. It has an earthy, sweet taste sometimes compared to a cross between chocolate and other deep-colored berries like pomegranate and red raspberry.
Açaí berries are considered superfoods due to their nutritional value boasting high antioxidants, fiber, and heart healthy fats.

What does this smoothie taste like?
This is a healthy and delicious smoothie that hits the spot. You'll taste the sweet earthiness of açaí with tart bursts of blackberries and blueberries. Texture-wise, it's smooth, thick, and creamy. And my açaí superfood drink is a smoothie with kale that you can't taste!
What You'll Need for this Recipe
Açaí Berries are a superfood, as I mentioned above, but they're not the only one in this recipe! All the berries here contribute to the nutrition factor and the beautifully deep dark color. However, açaí is nearly impossible to find in it's fresh form outside of South America. Use dried or frozen berries, açaí powder or (my preference) frozen açaí puree packs.
Blueberries are very nutrient dense and high in fiber, Vitamins C, K, and manganese. They can even help reduce muscle damage after exercise. Use fresh or frozen.
Blackberries have many of the same benefits as blueberries and they support oral and brain health, too. Use fresh or frozen, as well.
Kale is neither seen nor tasted in this drink. I love a sneaky green smoothie with kale that you can't taste!
Orange Juice is my preferred liquid base. Fresh squeezed or store-bought OJ work well. You can also swap in other liquids like coconut water or plant based milk depending your preference. Pro tip: Note that the color of the smoothie will change depending on the liquid you choose.
Tips & Tools
Grab a blender and measuring cup for the liquid. You won't need any fancy knives or anything else. This is a very easy green açaí smoothie recipe.
Can I make this smoothie ahead of time? Absolutely. You can blend it up to three days in advance and store in the refrigerator. A bit of separation may occur, so just be sure to shake or stir it up before sipping.
How to meal prep it? This triple berry green smoothie is a great candidate for my frozen smoothie packs method. Prepare them on the weekend to make the smoothie making process even faster each day!
How to Make Your Açaí Smoothie into a Bowl
You can follow this recipe as-is for a solid bowl, though I recommend adding a denser fruit to the mix for spoonable texture. Mangoes, bananas, and avocados are great options.
To serve an açaí smoothie as a bowl, garnish it with extra blueberries and blackberries. I like my açaí bowls Hawaiian style with strawberries, coconut, and a drizzle of honey. So good!
Is this smoothie good for PCOS?
It's pretty good. Acai provides healthy fats and each of the berries contains low amounts of sugar. There's also lots of fiber in this triple berry smoothie plus It's full of antioxidants and can help improve cholesterol levels.
But it doesn't have an equal amount of protein protein so I recommend adding a scoop of protein powder to make a more blood sugar balancing smoothie. Alternatively, you can pair your smoothie with nuts to balance things out for better hormone healthy support.
Now, say it with me: The blacker the berry, the sweeter the smoothie. And sharing is caring so be sure to pin this recipe for later and follow me over on Pinterest. Thanks for reading!
