What You'll Need for this Recipe

Hamburger Patties, of course! Use what you would typically use in a traditional burger. I grab pre-made lean ground beef patties from my local grocery store.
Crumbled Blue Cheese adds a gourmet touch that really elevates this simple plate. I highly recommend it!
Baby Tomato varieties like grape, cherry, or pear are already bite-sized and quicker to cut into halves or just add in whole than dicing a big tomato.
A Bag of Chopped Salad saves time. I recommend a mix with romaine and/or cabbage for the perfect crunch.

Substitutions & Variations
Protein - Have beef with beef? Feel free to swap in turkey or chicken patties or a plant-based burger substitute to make it vegetarian.
Cheese - You can cut up a slice or two of American cheese, or use cheddar cubes or Swiss cubes, depending on what you prefer.
Salad Dressing - There's something about honey mustard dressing here that just works, but if that's not your fave, try herby ranch dressing, Thousand Island (for restaurant secret sauce vibes), or something else.
Toppings - I like to add extras like red onion and hamburger pickle slices. Cumbled bacon or caramelized onions would also be great!
How to Make a Burger in a Bowl at Home

- Step One: Cook the burger patty to your desired level of doneness. (Photos 1 and 2)
- Step Two: Fry an egg in the rendered fat from the patty in the same pan. (Photo 3)
- Step Three: Meanwhile, add the salad base to your plate, then top with the egg and patty. (Photos 4 and 5)
- Step Four: Add the toppings and any sides, and serve. (Photo 6)
Pro Tip #1
I like to place a lil' pad of butter on top of my burger patty for extra flavor that melts into the meat as it cooks. This is optional (and extra calories) but makes a noticeable difference in the taste!

How to Serve
Pairings: It's not really giving burger vibes without fries on the side, right? Try my garlic parmesan sweet potato fries or crispy beef tallow fries--both baked in the oven!
Occasions: I like burger bowl salads for fun lunches because I can prep and pack the cold parts ahead, and cook my patties and eggs fresh each day. Or make it a fun family weeknight dinner where everyone can customize their bowls to their taste with no fights from picky eaters.
