Fresh, flavorful, easy hamburger in a bowl with classic fixins
Print Recipe
- 2 burger patties
- sea salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
- 2 eggs
- 10 ounces chopped salad greens
- ¼ red onion sliced or chopped
- 10 cherry tomatoes cut into halves
- 4 ounces blue cheese crumbled
- ¼ cup dill pickle slices
- 4 tablespoons honey mustard salad dressing or dressing or sauce of your choice
Cook the Proteins: Heat skillet on stovetop over medium-high flame. Add burger patties to heated pan, season with sea salt and black pepper, then cook to desired level of doneness: about 3 minutes per side for medium rare, 4 minutes per side for medium, 4 ½ minutes per side for medium well or 5 minutes per side for well done.*A meat thermometer inserted into the center of each patty will read 160 degrees Fahrenheit when burgers are fully cooked 2 burger patties, sea salt, black pepper
Remove cooked patties from pan, and add eggs. Cook to your desired level of doneness in the rendered beef fat left in the pan*If you use a very lean grind that doesn't produce enough fat, add about one tablespoon of cooking oil to the pan before adding the eggs. 2 eggs
Assemble the Bowls: Evenly divide salad greens between each plate or bowl, followed by onion, tomatoes, blue cheese, and pickles. Add any other desired toppings during this step, as well.
10 ounces chopped salad greens, ¼ red onion, 10 cherry tomatoes, 4 ounces blue cheese, ¼ cup dill pickle slices
Top each bowl with a cooked patty and egg. Serve with salad dressing drizzled over top or on the side.
4 tablespoons honey mustard salad dressing
Preparation
I like to place a lil' pad of butter on top of my burger patty for extra flavor that melts into the meat as it cooks. This is optional (and extra calories) but makes a noticeable difference in the taste!
Modifications
You can cut up a slice or two of American cheese, or use cheddar cubes or Swiss cubes depending on what you prefer.
There's something about honey mustard dressing here that just works, but if that's not your fave, try herby ranch dressing, Thousand Island (for restaurant secret sauce vibes), or something else.
Feel free to add additional toppings to suit your taste. Cumbled bacon or caramelized onions would also be great!
Storage
Whether you meal prep this dish ahead of time or have leftovers, it's best to store the cold and hot components separately. Store them in airtight containers in the refrigerator, and they will keep for up to four days.
