The 4th of July holiday weekend is upon us and, whether or not you celebrate, most everyone enjoys a color coordinated spread. No matter if you're cooking out, pool-hopping, or wine-ding down with friends and family, I think a cheese board should be part of your plans. 🙂 Today, I'm partnering with my go-to site for all things home, Wayfair, to show you how to make a delicious and visually pleasing red, white & blue cheese board that's perfect for Independence Day, Memorial Day, and any other patriotic holiday.
I always try to do a little extra when entertaining so, of course, there's more than just cheese on this board. This is really more of a nosh or grazing board--complete with a mix of sweet, savory, spicy, tangy, crunchy, creamy, and more!

How to Assemble a Red, White & Blue Cheese Board
I previously touched on the basics of building a cheese board here but this red, white & blue cheese board doesn't necessarily follow the same French rules I mentioned. Here, we're going for festiveness and a bit of color coordination so the process is as follows:
1. Start by placing whatever containers you want to use on the cheese board. It's easier to fill in your ingredients around them than trying to find a place for the containers once the board starts getting full.
2. Fill the containers with your chosen ingredients. Spreads, honey, and any ingredients you might have too much of are good candidates.
3. Add your cheeses. The rule of thumb is to arrange them from one side to the other in order of strength (i.e., pungent to mild.)
4. Lastly, fill in all remaining ingredients between and around the cheeses. Try to vary the colors in order to get a red, white & blue effect.
I used this cheese board set to create the spread you see here. I ordered it along with a bunch of other summer entertaining tools I shared in this post last week and have been so excited to try it out because I don't have anything else like it in my collection. When you love to entertain, you collect things like cheese boards. 🙂 Anyway, I love that this set has everything from mini cheese knives to labels to the chalk needed to write on the labels. You can also write directly on the board as it's made of slate.

I hope this inspires your holiday entertaining and that y'all have safe, enjoyable celebrations. This is so pretty!! I totally do not have the patience to make something like this haha I'm too much of a perfectionist and I'd easily spend 30 minutes rearranging everything before finally giving up haha

Part of the beauty is that there’s no wrong way to do it. I tried not to be too formulaic in the instructions because it’s really up to you! This one took under 10 minutes to make.
