Mix matcha powder into hot water until dissolved using a bamboo whisk, frothing wand or fork. Set aside.
Pour strawberry syrup into milk and swirl frothing wand under the surface of the milk to combine the ingredients and create fluffy foam. (See notes section for an alternative method if you don't have a frothing wand.)
Fill a glass halfway with ice then pour strawberry milk into glass, followed by matcha tea for an ombre effect. Serve cold.
Notes
Making the Strawberry Vanilla Syrup
Hull and slice eight ounces of strawberries and split open one vanilla bean to expose its seeds.
Add strawberries and vanilla bean to a small saucepan with one cup of water and one cup of sugar (or other sweetener) over medium heat.
Stir to dissolve the sugar and bring the mixture to a boil then reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
Remove from heat and strain out solid ingredients then allow syrup to cool fully before using. Makes about 10 servings.
PreparationTo keep the fluffy strawberry milk foam intact, I don't recommend making this drink more than 15 minutes ahead of time for the best results.Tool SubstitutionIf you don't have a frothing wand, add the milk and syrup to a blender and pulse to combine and create fluffy texture.
