  • 1 cinnamon stick or two teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 ½ cup sugar
  • 1 cup water Add ingredients to saucepan over medium heat. Stir to dissolve. Bring to a boil then remove from heat and steep until cooled. Transfer to container and store refrigerated.

  • Add the cinnamon, sugar, and water to a small saucepan over medium heat and stir until dissolved.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil then remove it from heat and steep until cooled.
  • Strain out any solid pieces and transfer the cooled syrup to a container to store.

Notes

Preparation
You can make cinnamon syrup up to six days in advance.
Storage
Store in an airtight container and refrigerate to keep for up to two weeks.
You can store the syrup with or without the cinnamon stick. Just keep an eye on it, as mold can develop on it if stored too long.
Note that when freezing, the syrup will likely become very thick instead of freezing completely solid. This is because of the high sugar content. Store in a freezer safe food storage container.
