Refreshing sweetened hibiscus tea lemonade layered with superfood flavors like the popular Nigerian zobo drink
Print Recipe
- 6 cups water
- 1 cup dried hibiscus
- 1 2-inch knob fresh turmeric
- 1 2-inch knob fresh ginger
- ½ teaspoon whole cloves
- 1 cup lemon juice
- ¾ cup honey
- ice
Add water to a small saucepan and bring to a boil then turn off heat. Meanwhile, rinse and drain the hibiscus flowers. Peel and slice the ginger and turmeric.
Add rinsed hibiscus, turmeric, ginger, and cloves to boiled water and steep until the water cools to room temperature (about 40 minutes).
While the hibiscus tea cools, juice the lemons and combine resulting lemon juice with honey until uniform.
Strain out the solids from the tea discard. Mix the tea with lemon juice and honey then transfer to fridge to chill. Serve lemonade over ice.
Preparation
This hibiscus flavored lemonade gets better with time and you can make it up three days in advance if stored in the fridge.
