Ingredients

Instructions

  • Place martini glass in refrigerator or freezer to chill.
  • Fill cocktail shaker halfway with ice then pour in gin, syrup, lemon juice, and orange liqueur.
  • Cover cocktail shaker and shake vigorously until chilled to the touch (about eight seconds).
  • Strain into chilled cocktail glass and garnish with lemon and mint, if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy responsibly!

Notes

Making the Sweet Tea Syrup
  1. Dissolve 1 ½ cup sugar in one cup of water in a saucepan over medium high heat.
  2. Add six tea bags and bring the mixture to a boil.
  3. Remove pot from heat and steep the tea until syrup is cooled (about 30 minutes) then remove tea bags from syrup. Don't squeeze the bags to get extra liquid out as this releases tannins that can turn the syrup bitter! (Makes about 24 servings)
Preparation
To make ahead: mix, strain, and store the cocktail in the refrigerator or freezer then give it a good shake or stir before serving. Save the garnish until just before serving.
For pitcher sweet tea martinis, add six ounces gin, four ounces orange liqueur, four ounces sweet tea syrup, and three ounces lemon juice to a pitcher over ice and stir. Serves four.
To turn this drink into sweet tea shots, just divide the liquid even between three shot glasses and serve.
