Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 lemons
  • 2 limes
  • 1 grapefruit
  • 12 ounces Hennessy cognac
  • 8 ounces lemon juice from about three large lemons or six small lemons
  • 8 ounces hibiscus syrup or grenadine
  • 2 ounces gin
  • 2 ounces ginger liqueur
  • 2 ounces Grand Marnier or orange liqueur
  • ¾ cup cane sugar or brown sugar
  • 16 ounces sparkling water
  • ice

Instructions

  • Slice lemons, limes, and grapefruit then cut the grapefruit slices into halves. Set aside.
  • Fill beverage vessel ⅓ full with ice then pour in Hennessy, lemon juice, hibiscus syrup, gin, ginger liqueur, Grand Marnier, and sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved and liquid is a uniform color.
  • Pour in sparkling water and drop in sliced citrus fruits then stir again to combine and chill the punch.
  • Serve over fresh ice and garnish with the citrus.

Notes

Making the Hibiscus Grenadine
  1. Add 1 ½ cup water, 1 ½ cup brown sugar, 1 cup dried hibiscus, 2 inches fresh ginger, 1 cinnamon stick, and 2 whole cloves to a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stir until brown sugar dissolves then bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for about 10 minutes then turn off heat and allow syrup to cool before straining out solid ingredients. Makes 24 servings.
Preparation
You can make Hennessy punch up to two days ahead of time and I'm of the mind that it gets better with time since the flavors have more time to marinate. Just don't add the citrus or ice until you're ready to serve it.
If you want to keep the punch cold without diluting with too much ice, consider freezing the citrus slices.
Variations
I use cane sugar or brown sugar here but you can use whichever granulated or liquid option you prefer like a simple syrup or zero sugar sweetener. Note that plain honey won't mix very well into this cold drink so I'd recommend a honey syrup like my ginger honey syrup.
Storage
Store any leftover punch in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to three days. Remove any citrus slices and ice cubes before storing.
