Preparation
You can make this lemonade up to three days in advance. Just follow the storage instructions below.
Modifications
Lemon Juice from freshly-squeezed lemons is best for that bright, zesty flavor we need. But you can use concentrated lemon juice from a bottle in a pinch. You can also use lime juice instead to make a creamy limeade.
I like to use honey in this recipe, but you can use maple syrup, agave nectar, or sugar cup for cup. Zero sugar options like Stevia also work; just start with one-third of the amount, taste test, and adjust.
Turn it into a cocktail with a splash of liquor or liqueur. In my humble opinion, rum works best.
To remix this into frozen lemonade, make the lemonade per the instructions, stopping at step three. Pour half the liquid into another container, then fill the blender back up with four to six cups of ice, cover, and pulse until it reaches a slushy consistency. Repeat the process with the remaining lemonade.
Storage
Store uncovered in the refrigerator. Keeps for up to five days. Separation may occur, so be sure to shake the lemonade up before pouring.
