(Optional step: run a wedge of lemon around rim of glass then dip rim into sanding sugar to garnish) Place a single hibiscus flower in the bottom of a champagne flute or champagne cocktail glass.
Add gin, lemon juice, and hibiscus syrup to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake for about 15 seconds.
Pour mixture into glass then top up with champagne and gently stir. Garnish with lemon peel, if desired.
