This pie wins Fall, y’all. It just does! Every other pie can pack up and go home now. The showstopper is here. Can you tell that I’m super proud of this little ultimate autumn apple pie? It’s got apples, pears, cranberries, walnuts, maple syrup, and a gang of spices that mix together to make the best Fall flavor medley you ever did taste.
The bottom is a classic, buttery, flaky crust and the top is a sweet oat streusel. If you’re trying to impress anybody with a dessert this season, this is the recipe to whip out. Make this pie if you’re not the only one trying to be the only one. Make this pie if you want a ring by spring. Make this pie to get that promotion you’ve been wanting at work. Of course, I am not guaranteeing any of these specific outcomes for you but the point is that this pie can’t hurt your situation at all…unless you’re allergic to goodness wrapped in comfort, baked with love. 🙂
All jokes aside, I set out to tweak the comforting classic that is apple pie by incorporating different autumnal flavors and came up with this. I knew I wanted it to invoke all those flannel-scarf-crisp-air-grandma’s-baking feelings of Fall with both the flavors and appearance but since I’m not skilled at making pretty pie crusts like Jojo Romancer (she’s a legit pie genius) I decided on a crumb topping which was the perfect way to incorporate oats (another element I envisioned). On top of everything else, it doesn’t take all day to make (about 30 minutes prep and 1 hour in the oven) so there’s absolutely no excuse not to try it!
Press your bottom crust into the pan then fill it with the…filling. 🙂
Add a drizzle of maple syrup and try to restrain yourself.
Add the oat streusel topping and now you’re ready for the oven.
This is the lovely result. I’d love to know what you think of this ultimate autumn apple pie. For what occasion would you bake it? Thanks for reading!
