Popcorn is one of my go-tos for entertaining. I talked about it in this post about easy snacks for last-minute guests. So, when planning my first-ever Christmas party, incorporating it into the menu was a must. This buttery chai popcorn is sweet, spicy (not in a hot kind of way), and a little salty. It’s also easy AF to make. Just pop up a few bags of your favorite popcorn and toss all the ingredients together. Don’t strive for perfection with this recipe, as it will be almost impossible to evenly coat every single kernel! Thankfully, that isn’t required for deliciousness. You’ll get a bit of buttery flavor, sweetness, saltiness, and warmth in each mouthful.
As you can see, my batches are nowhere near uniform but the result is kind of addictive. The chai flavor is strong enough that you don’t need it on every kernel to taste it in every bite. If you’ve been reading for a bit, you’ve likely seen me use chai in other recipes like these vanilla chai donuts, these (super popular) chai-spiced pumpkin snickerdoodles or this dark chocolate chai baked oatmeal (which is vegan, btw). This buttery chai popcorn is the simplest of them all and yummy little treat perfect for the holiday season and beyond. From Christmas movie marathons to Netflix and chill sessions, to random snacking, you might just look for opportunities to make this. It’s just as good the next day so feel free to make a batch ahead of time, as well. If you go this route, I recommend warming it up in the oven for a bit for extra coziness.
