Fall Favorites + Pumpkin Donuts Recipe

This is a roundup of my favorite things about Fall, which is finally upon us–things I like to see, make, and do each year to get fully into the season. The last (but definitely not least) item on this list is my recipe for pumpkin donuts, which are easy to make and nothing short of amazing. Do not let the season go by without trying them out!

Candles: Well, I burn candles all year long and still have quite the stash from my extreme couponing days. Fall and Winter are times when you can burn candles nonstop without getting a side-eye. They also make great gifts. My favorite fall scents are Leaves and Sweater Weather from Bath and Body Works and Ambre from Diptyque.

Acorns: Or, rather, the sound of them crunching under my shoes. This is my first indication of Fall’s arrival and, if you’re ever out with me during this season, I may dip off on you mid conversation in order to step on one real quick.

Fall Produce: Strolling through the grocery store or farmers’ market is always a beautiful thing to me but seeing all the autumn gourds and root veggies roll in is inspiring and makes me want to create alllll the soups. Figs, squash, sweet potatoes, apples, pears, and kale are some of my favorites to work with and [of course] eat.

Thanksgiving Menu Planning: I have made Thanksgiving dinner for my family for the past four years. It’s certainly a labor of love. I get inspiration from classics like my granny’s dressing (some might know that as stuffing) and Pinterest. I use Excel [it gets real] to plan out all the ingredients I will need and determine when to do things like shopping and prep work. If y’all want more insight into my methods, let me know in the comments below!

Pumpkin Donuts: These. Donuts. Y’all! They are so good and just scream “Fall is here!” All of my Houston folks should take full advantage of these since we don’t really get to do typical Fall things like jump in a pile of leaves. These donuts more than make up for that. I mean, they are lip-smacking good. I used this cute, nonstick donut tin to create them. The recipe is super simple and just below. Topping suggestions: chai spice, sliced almonds, cinnamon sugar

Instructions
Donuts
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Whisk flour, baking powder, sea salt, and spices together in a large bowl.
  2. In another bowl, mix together pumpkin, eggs, butter, brown sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Combine wet with dry and mix well.
  3. Convey into donut tins. The easiest way to do so is by spooning the batter into a zip-top bag, snipping off one corner, and piping batter into the tins like frosting.
  4. Bake for about 12 minutes. Allow to cool then add whatever toppings you like or just eat them plain.
Cream Cheese Frosting
  1. Mix or beat all ingredients together in a bowl. Frosting should be thick but spreadable.
